100 not out for big bingo fan
We're sure that our loyal Buckingham Bingo fans would play bingo games for a century if they could. One woman from Netherseal has almost managed it – turning 100 years old on Tuesday, August 3rd 2010.
Violet Wright reached the grand old age and received a telegram from the Queen. And although she cannot do the things she used to, she still manages to find the time and energy to indulge in a spot of bingo whenever the opportunity arises.
Speaking to the Burton Mail, she said that she can no longer sew, knit or do the gardening, but at her nursing home she "enjoys playing the bingo and the word games."
Violet remained coy when it came to revealing the secret of a long life, but we're sure Buckingham Bingo fans would agree a level of excitement – as can be experienced at our bingo clubs – is an important factor.
She said: "I've had so many highlights in my life and I couldn't tell you what the secret to a long and happy life is, as I'm not sure."
