Bingo fans come out for club fundraiser

Flambuoyant fundraiser brings sparkle to bingo
You could say that it is no surprise to see the US apply their own slant to an old tradition. We saw their interpretation of football at the 1994 World Cup, as well as their remakes of popular British television shows. But bingo?
A bingo club in the US aims to put its own spin on the game, and it's all for a good cause. The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Pittsburgh is drawing in excess of five hundred people to Temple Rodef Shalom in Shadyside for a game of bingo with a difference. With the same emphasis on fun you would expect from a night at a Buckingham Bingo club night, this event has a spectacular half-time drag queen show to break up proceedings.
Just like a Buckingham Bingo night, high-payout games are the order of the day, but the Pittsburgh clientele are just as interested in the spectacle. "It's a great halftime show!" said one woman. "I mean, let's face it, who doesn't love drag queens and bingo?"
Buckingham clubs just as spectacular
It's widely accepted that Buckingham ups the ante when it comes to its club as a good bingo club can really brighten up a community. A Good Night Out in the Valleys is a local play which explores the idea of bingo bringing people together.
A review in the Western Mail claimed: "If you like to play bingo, enjoy a raffle and want to be entertained by a compere dressed in a chicken suit, then you'll love National Theatre Wales' debut production."
