Bingo club looks to pot charitable donation

Team tables pool tournament for charity
A bingo club in Devonport is coming together for a good cause tonight (Monday May 10th 2010). Staff at the Devonport club will be holding a pool tournament with all proceeds going to charity.
Staff are staging the competition as the latest in a series of charity events for Marie Curie Cancer Care including a sponsored walk from Princeton back to the Devonport club.
According to staff member Sarah Pooley, pool was an obvious choice for an event due to her love of the game. She said:
"I decided to do a pool tournament, as I'm a regular pool player. We're all trying to raise money through the year for Marie Curie."
The lucky winner of the pool tournament will receive a trophy with an inscription as well as a brand new pool cue with which they can continue their success on the baize.
Bingo and charity – two peas in a pod
Online bingo fans will already be aware of some of the great charity events that have taken place with a bingo theme.
Just last week, we reported on a gay and lesbian bingo fundraiser held in the US. Of course, the Americans felt the need to amp things up with a halftime drag queen show, but the 500-plus on-hand certainly seemed to enjoy things.
Charity was certainly not the order of the day for celebrity bingo fan Ashley Cole. The footballer, who attended a bingo event staged by Gary Barlow last year, scored in an eight-goal route of Wigan as Chelsea won the Premier League yesterday
The England star would welcome 8 on his fantasy bingo card, as well as number 3, his Chelsea squad number.
