Buckingham Bingo Bootle player in charity pledge
Bingo player's charity planA benevolent Buckingham Bingo Bootle member has pledged to donate £2,000 to charity after scooping a truly sensational prize.
The lucky lady, who doesn't want to be named (our computer wizards have cleverly changed her name in the photo to the right), was playing an afternoon bingo session at the Stanley Road branch when her numbers came up in spectacular style.
Calling on number 50 meant that she was able to claim an unbelievable £50,000 jackpot as well as the regular £500 house prize.
And the regular Buckingham Bingo Bootle player has told staff that she plans to donate £1,000 of her winnings to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, with another £1,000 earmarked for the Breakthrough for Breast Cancer charity.
She was also full of praise for the Merseyside bingo club, which she said has a brilliant atmosphere and always makes her feel welcome.
Bingo clubs working for Breakthrough
Buckingham Bingo is one of the operators supporting Bingo for Breakthrough Week, which runs from the 19 to 25 October 2009. The annual extravaganza aims to raise thousands of pounds in support of Breakthrough for Breast Cancer.
Earlier this year, Buckingham Bingo set itself the ambitious target of donating £20,000 in the first year of a new two-year partnership with the cancer charity. And the fundraising efforts are well and truly underway at Buckingham Bingo Huyton, where a special Pink Tea Party was held on August 31st 2009.
Bingo club staff and players dressed up in pink garments and took part in a day of activities ranging from lotteries to quizzes.
They also found time for a few bingo games in between the delicious homemade cakes and sandwiches.
