Buckingham Bingo Preston is no stranger to celebrations but it isn't often any bingo club can claim to have played a major role in a wedding party.

The Tithebarn Street branch, fresh from an incredible bingo winning streak, has turned its hand to matchmaking with the news that two employees got married on Saturday, September 19 2009.

Kerry had already worked in the Buckingham Bingo Preston buffet for three years when Marie joined the catering team. That happened six years ago.

The popular members of staff began dating a year and a half later and now they have formally tied the knot at Preston Registry Office, where they were accompanied by six blushing bridesmaids and three dashing pageboys.

Bingo wedding crisis narrowly averted

However, William Shakespeare once wrote that the course of true love never did run smooth so perhaps it shouldn't surprise us there was a crisis in the build-up when it seemed the big day would lack one vital ingredient � wedding dresses.

At the tail end of last month, Kerry and Marie were preparing to pick up their wedding dresses when they saw what every woman dreads, namely a sign on the dressmakers revealing it had gone out of business.

They rang and rang and finally got through to the seamstress, who luckily enough had already made the dresses and saved the day.

Julie Cook, assistant manager of Buckingham Bingo Preston, sent her heartfelt congratulations to the happy couple ahead of their big day.

She said: "Naturally, all the staff and management here hope they have a fantastic day and a happy married life together."
