Buckingham Bingo Huyton backs Breakthrough for Breast Cancer

Pink clothes were in vogue at a Buckingham Bingo charity tea partyTea party proves a huge success

Buckingham Bingo Huyton has staged a Pink Tea Party to support the fight against breast cancer.

On Monday, August 31 2009, staff and players at the bingo club dressed from head to toe in bright pink clothing to raise funds for the charity Breakthrough for Breast Cancer.

Prize bingo games, a lottery and a fun quiz were incorporated into the day, with sandwiches and cakes available throughout.

The Pink Tea Party raised a sensational total of £631 for the charity, which enjoys strong backing from Buckingham Bingo.

Earlier this year, the bingo club operator signed a landmark two-year deal with Breakthrough for Breast Cancer and set itself an ambitious target of raising £20,000 in the first year alone.

Although the official fundraising week starts on October 18, events such as the Pink Tea Party are scheduled to take place throughout the year as Buckingham strives to support Breakthrough for Breast Cancer's research and public awareness programmes.

Wales' tallest mountain is next

As regulars at Buckingham Bingo Huyton may know already, the club plans to build on its tea party success with another fundraising event later this month.

On September 26, Buckingham Bingo Huyton manager David Rhodes and other staff members will embark upon a sponsored hike up Mount Snowdon. Climbing the tallest mountain in Wales will hopefully raise at least another £500 for the cancer charity.

Buckingham Bingo players can support Breakthrough for Breast Cancer in a number of ways, including buying lapel badges and taking part in specially-arranged charity bingo games.
